Start off with a freshly washed silk scarf. Beginning clean ensures that your dye process will not be affected by chemicals that may be on the scarf.
Make your dye bath according to the package instructions in a pot of boiling water. Silk absorbs dye easily, so you will not have to use a large amount of the mixture.
Rinse the scarf in warm water and drop it in the dye bath. Stir it around and let it sit for about 20 minutes.
Remove the scarf and rinse it thoroughly. It may take multiple rinses to remove all of the excess dye. Allow to dry.
