Assemble the pieces of wooden frame based on the particular dimensions of your silk painting. Leave about 2 inches of space between the perimeter fabric and the wooden frame.
Nail four horizontal pieces of wood, about 1 inch thick apiece, together to form a frame. The length of each piece will be determined by the measurements in Step 1.
Screw in a metal bracket to each of the four inner corners of the frame to give it extra support.
Insert nails or screws at different points around the perimeter of the frame to act as "pegs" to hold the clips that will be used to stretch the silk. Insert a nail or screw in each corner and four along the middle part of the frame, for a total of eight.
Attach eight silk clips to different points around the silk: the four corners and the midpoint of each length. Hook the clips over the screws or nails you inserted in the previous step so that the clips are tugging or pulling the silk in order to stretch it.
