Instructions

    • 1

Select a picture of a person or animal on your computer or on the Internet that you would like to work with.

    • 2

      Open the photo in Photoshop.

    • 3

Look for "File" in the top menu of Photoshop. Select "File" and "New" drop-down menu. This will open a small window containing information for the new file you are going to create. Name the document and enter the height and width of the new document. Make it similar to the size of the photo. Save the document.

    • 4

Select the move tool in the tools pallet. Use the move tool to drag the photo onto the new document. This creates a new layer in the layers pallet.

    • 5

You will need to create another new layer. In the top menu, select "Layer," then "New" from the fly-out menu.

    • 6

Choose the elliptical marquee tool from the tools pallet. Create two individual elliptical areas around each eye in the photo.

    • 7

Now you will need to fill the elliptical area. In the top menu, choose "Edit," then select "Fill" in the drop-down menu.

    • 8

In the fill window, select the drop-down menu and choose color as the fill color. The Color Picker window should appear. Enter 51DF1F into the bottom color field next to the pound sign.

    • 9

In the top menu, select "Filter" then select "Blur" then Gaussian Blur in the fly-out menu. A new window for the Gaussian Blur option should be showing. In the window that displays the blur, type 5.2 in the radius field. You may want to adjust the blur using the slider instead. For now though, make the blur radius 5.2. Click "OK."

    • 10

Double click on the elliptical blur layer on the layers pallet. The Layer Style window will appear.

    • 11

On the left side of the Layer Style window, select the Blending Option "outer glow." Keeping the same window open, look to the right at the Outer Glow settings. In the Structure section, look for the Blend Mode. Choose "screen" from the drop-down menu next to Blend Mode. Make the opacity 100%. For the color, use the default color, which should be yellow. In the Elements section make the Spread 2%. Make the Size 16px.

    • 12

Look for the opacity setting at the top of your layers pallet. Adjust the opacity to 90% or until you can see some of the pupils in the eyes of the photo.

    • 13

You are finished. You should have a halo effect around both eyes in your photo. Now save your document.
