How to Create a Comic Book Photo Effect

Not only can creating a comic book effect with your photographs be a fun project, it will also add a different feel to household wall hangings or photo books. There is a wide variety of software on the market today that can be used to create this effect, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDRAW. However, most of these programs are quite expensive, so for those who do not own digital imaging software, plenty of online resources can create this effect with your photographs.

      Upload your photograph to a website that creates a comic book effect with your photographs free, such as Phixr.com or Pixenate.com. Both of these websites create the same effect. Go to the Phixr or Pixenate website (see References) and click on the option for Guest. You will then be sent to another screen where you will have the option to upload your photo. Select your chosen photograph and click on "Upload."

      Choose your comic book layout. Both Phixr and Pixenate have a wide variety of options. Play with each effect to see which one that you enjoy the best. Click "OK."

      Add any text you like, either on the photograph itself or in a cartoon bubble that is provided. The decision is yours. Click "OK." You have now transformed your photograph into a comic book effect.

      Save your photograph. Right-click on your photograph and click on "Save As." Name the picture anything you’d like. You may now open your comic book picture on your computer, print it out or have it printed at your local photo center.
