Almost all sequins have small holes in them, so you can thread them with a needle for sewing or beading projects. You will also need a hot glue gun and hot glue sticks for most projects involving sequins. Hot glue guns are effective and easy to use, but you should be careful using them around children because they do get very hot.
Make Christmas ornaments using sequins. Purchase small foam balls at a craft supply store, and paint them with shiny acrylic paint. Purchase pearl headed or other pretty pins, and use them to pin sequins to the foam balls. Press the heads of the pins all the way into the ornament. Hot glue a loop of ribbon or thread to the ornaments to hang them. You can also decorate basic store-bought Christmas ornaments by hot gluing sequins to their surfaces. Or have all members of the family write their names in sequins on homemade Popsicle stick ornaments.
Use sequins to make fun and sparkly jewelry and clothes items. You can thread sequins directly onto string or fishing line to liven up simple beaded necklaces and bracelets. You can also sew sequins onto scarves and other clothing items, or hot glue them onto headbands and hair clips. Find fun sequin shapes and colors that coordinate with the clothing item you want to add them to. You can find sequins in the shape of shells, flowers, leaves, snowflakes, hearts or fans.
Use sequins to decorate holiday cards. You can find holiday-specific sequins for Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and other holidays. Make a homemade card out of card stock or construction paper and use hot glue or strong paste to attach sequins in a decorative border. You can also add sequins to homemade picture frames, magnets or photo collages.
