Minnesota Arts & Humanities Grants

Grant programs for the arts and humanities serve to support the work of individual artists and arts organizations whose efforts are intended to increase public awareness of the arts. The state of Minnesota's eleven regional arts councils sponsor a number of grant programs that are designed to expand arts in the community and further the careers of professional Minnesota artists.
  1. Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council Grant Programs

    • The Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council sponsors grant programs for individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations in the southwest area of the state. Organizational grants range from $500 to $4,500 and may be used toward the development of local arts projects and arts development programs. Individual artist awards range from $500 to $2,500 and are available to established and emerging artists working in all mediums. Grants may be used to fund artistic study and career development programs or individual arts projects.

    Central Minnesota Arts Board Individual Artist Grant

    • The Central Minnesota Arts Board sponsors individual artist grant programs for emerging and established artists in central Minnesota. Grants of $3,000 are awarded to artists working in all mediums of the fine arts, literature, music and dance. All applicants must intend to use the grants to fund original works. Collaborative projects will not be considered.

    Northwest Minnesota Arts Council Arts Grants

    • The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council administers grant programs for individual artists, touring companies and community arts projects in northwestern Minnesota. Grant awards range from $500 to $6,000 and grants may be used to fund individual artist development, student artist mentoring programs, public arts projects and performances and art education projects in local schools.

    Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council Grant Programs

    • The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council provides grant funding to individual artists and arts organizations within the Prairie Lakes region. Grants are available to emerging artists to further career development and to arts organizations to fund community art projects and art education programs in area schools. Grant awards range from $500 to $8,000.

    Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants

    • The Minnesota State Arts Board sponsors the Artist Initiative program, which offers grants to Minnesota artists at all stages of their careers. Grant awards range from $2,000 to $6,000 and may be used to fund artistic and career development or for the creation of new works of art. Grants are awarded to artists in a wide range of disciplines including music, photography, new media, literary arts, dance, theater and visual arts.
