Decide on the theme or concept of your montage. You might choose photos of one person alone--or with others--at a specific event or during a certain period in his or her life.
Sort through photos and gather those you plan to use. Scan the pictures to digitize any copies you don't already have in electronic format.
Open a video editing program such as Adobe Premier Pro. Import all your digital image files into the program by clicking the "Import Files" tab under the "Files" section, then selecting your images.
Create a title intro for your video using the text features. Click the "Files" tab and find the "Create New Title" selection. A new window will open and you can enter your text as well as change the font, placement and size. Place a transition at each end so it fades in and out, or use another transition such as spin. Click the "Transitions" tab to the left of the screen and scan down to find the transition you'd like to use. Click and drag it over the title clip. Lay out your photos on the video work bar in the order you'd like them to appear.
Cross the ends of the photos so they overlap, then insert "fade" transitions on each end, so the images fade into each other. Continue this with all the photos.
Import your music selection by returning to the "Files" tab and selecting "Import Files" then finding your music tracks. Lay down the tracks you've selected on the work bar. Fade the music in and out using the transition tools. Export the video by selecting the "Files" tab and navigating down to "Export." Burn the video to DVD.
Go through your photos and choose those you would like to use.
Choose the surface (cardboard, posterboard, foamboard, canvas) on which you'll make your montage. All your photos will be glued to this, so keep track of the amount of surface you need to cover.
Spread out the photos over the surface you've chosen and arrange them as you see fit. You can overlap photos so the entire area is covered, or leave spaces in between. If you don't have enough photos to cover the entire space or choose not to then get creative and paint the background or add in decorative stickers and drawings to enhance the blank areas.
Begin at one corner of your montage surface. Cut and glue the photos, overlapping and layering as you go. Use a craft spray glue.
Cover the surface with photos. If you like, frame your montage.
