Set up the cow stall in the exhibit.
Spread hay on the floor of the stall. This is done in real milking stations to not onyl provide the cow with something to munch on while she is being milked, but also because it helps to absorb any waste they may cause while they are in the stall.
Place the wax cow into position in the stall.
Mix up a pail or decorate a pail with soapy water. Soapy water is used to clean the cow and her teats before milking to avoid getting bacteria or debris into the milk. The soapy water is also used to wash the milker's hands before milking the cow for sanitation reasons. Place the paper towels next to the soapy water.
Place the milking stool to the forefront of the exhibit, right next to where the cow's udders are located.
Place the milking pail directly underneath the cow's teats.
Tie the rope around the cow's hind legs or hang it up on one of the stall walls. Some farmers tie the hind legs to prevent the cow from kicking the milk pail over.
