How to Make a Saddam Hussein Beret
Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq from 1979. He was a member of the Ba'athist political party and took his country to war with Iran from 1980 to 1988. His armies invaded neighboring Kuwait in 1990 and were repelled by coalition forces the following year. Saddam Hussein's government was overthrown during the Iraq War in 2003. Saddam Hussein was captured in a remote farmhouse near Tikrit, Iraq, by forces from the 4th Infantry Division, coalition forces and special operations forces on December 13, 2003. He was executed for war crimes on December 30, 2006. Today a Saddam Hussein military costume is popular at fancy-dress parties. The black beret is part of the outfit.
