How to Do Printing on PVC Edge Banding Tape

Use scree- printing techniques to print your own designs or images onto PVC edge banding tape. When printing on surfaces that are more difficult for ink to adhere to, such as PVC plastic, it is important to use gloss enamel printing ink. If you are a beginner to screen printing, choose a design with a simple outline that is not too intricate, as you will have to cut out this design.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the image or design to print onto the PVC edge banding tape. Print or draw this image or design onto an A4 size sheet of acetate.

    • 2

Place thick cardboard under your work area. Cut out the parts of your design that you want to print to create an acetate stencil.

    • 3

Place a length of PVC banding tape flat on the work surface. Place the stencil on top of the PVC banding tape. Adjust the stencil until the design is in the desired print location.

    • 4

Place the screen down on top of the stencil. Mask off any areas on the underside of the screen that are not covered by the acetate stencil with masking tape.

    • 5

Put a small amount of gloss enamel printing ink across the top of the screen. Pull the ink down the screen at a 45-degree angle with a squeegee.

    • 6

Pull up the screen from left to right. The stencil will come away with the screen to show the printed PVC tape.
