Acquire a work table that you won't mind drilling in to. Choose one edge of the table and secure the screen bracket. This will keep the screen from moving when you are pulling prints. Do not put the screen in the bracket yet.
Print or draw the design you want, but make sure that it is a high contrast black and white image.
Elevate the screen off the work surface face down with bottle caps or a couple of wood shims, but be sure to support every corner so the screen doesn't wiggle when you are working. Place your drawing underneath the screen.
Use the screen filler, (blocking fluid), to paint your design on the inside of the screen. Only apply the filler where you intend the paper to stay white after printing. You do not have to use the screen filler on the entire border of the screen. If your paper does not fill the printing area, use clear packaging tape applied directly to the inside of the screen to create a smaller printing area.
Let the blocking fluid dry thoroughly. You can place the screen in front of a box fan if you wish.
Secure the screen to the mounted bracket. Create a registration mark on the table by using masking tape to outline where the screen lies on the table. When your outline is complete, lift up the screen.
Center your paper within the printing area. Create another registration mark by using the masking tape to outline where the paper lies on the table. This way you always know where to place the paper.
Lay the screen over the paper. Scoop a couple blobs of ink onto the clear packaging tape border you made at the top of your design. A little goes a long way, but if you put too much down it will get used on the next piece of paper, so no worries.
Draw the ink across the screen with the squeegee. Apply firm, consistent pressure from the top to the bottom. This first printing will be a proof, a test run, that will show you whether or not you used enough ink and enough pressure. It will also show you if you missed any areas when you painted on the blocking fluid.
Make any necessary adjustments, and when you are satisfied, you can make as many copies of your image you want.
Clean the screen. Remove the clear packaging tape border and clean the screen using a spray nozzle in the sink or bathtub and laundry detergent with a bristle brush. It may take some time, but a clean screen is vital to future printing.
