Treasure Craft pottery made from 1947 to 1956 is technically called the "Southgate Years." Sprites sitting on shoes and tree trunks were sold as plant pots. In 1956, Treasure Craft was stamped "C 1957 -- TREASURE CRAFT -- COMPTON" on the bottom. The "Compton Years" of Treasure Craft describes most of the Treasure Craft pottery from the 1950s and 1960s with wood stain and glazes on it. Treasure Craft went on to produce "Hawaiian Lines" in later years, along with whimsical pieces for Disney.
Treasure Craft pottery has been recognized mainly for its Hawaiian Lines and Disney character pottery ceramics. Mickey Mouse, rabbits and other whimsical characters can be found on Treasure Craft pottery. On the Easter rabbit tea pot, one ear of the rabbit serves as part of the tea spout; and on the fire man rabbit tea pot, the fire hose spout is part of the tea spout.
All Treasure Craft pottery is hallmarked on the bottom for "Treasure Craft." Treasure Craft pottery from different years has different hallmark styles and types. Use a hallmark identification and value guide to help in identifying any unusual Treasure Craft pottery items. Teapots and rabbits are very collectible and are some of the most sought-after Treasure Craft pottery designs, especially when combined together in one piece.
Treasure Craft pottery items consist mainly of cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, planters, ashtrays and on the rare occasion, a teapot or other sculptural item. Treasure Craft pottery can be used for a variety of purposes, or just for decoration. Treasure Craft rabbit tea pots are for serving tea.
