How to Airbrush Books
Airbrushing is a refined spray paint medium that allows the user to have greater control and add more detail in a smaller area than with spray paint cans alone. You can add airbrushing to just about anything with texture, from clothing to model cars. Whether you're designing your own book cover or simply want to improve on the cover of an existing book, airbrushing is a fantastic medium. However, keep in mind that you'll need to work with a book that has some degree of texture. Glossy paperbacks aren't going to work, because the paint needs texture to adhere to.

1
Find a hard cover book with a fabric covering. Most hard cover books come with a glossy book cover. Simply remove the cover to expose the fabric based book.
-
2
Prime over the entire book with the background color you want the cover to have. Place a piece of newspaper or other scrap paper between the covers and the book pages to protect the inside of the book.

3
Allow the paint to dry. Airbrush paint generally dries rather quickly, as you are not applying heavy coats.

4
Paint the desired design onto the book. Once you finish one side, it is best to wait several hours before moving to the opposite side; otherwise, you risk smearing semi-wet airbrush paint.
