Create a wall mural devoted to fireflies. Start with a large piece of cardboard or foam core painted black. Use a string of mini Christmas light bulbs to provide the glow. Tape the string of lights to the back of the board. Mark and cut small holes for the bulbs to poke through the front. Paint a firefly around each light bulb. Add trees, grass and other night-time details such as nocturnal animals to complete the mural.
Transform small, inexpensive flashlights into fireflies with craft foam and googly eyes. Cut out wing shapes from green, yellow or purple craft foam. Use tacky glue to attach them to the sides of a flashlight. Use the light bulb as the glowing belly of the the firefly and keep the switch uncovered. Glue googly eyes to the flashlight for eyes. Attach a cord and string glow in the dark pony beads on to make a firefly necklace.
Recycle a dead light bulb by painting it with glow in the dark paint and then turn it into a firefly with a few craft supplies. Cut wing shapes from construction paper and glue on the sides of the light bulb. Twist a pipe cleaner around the neck of the light bulb to make the antennae. Glue small pieces of pipe cleaner on the bottom of the firefly to represent legs. Add a round piece of felt to make the lightening bug face.
Wrap wire around two-inch light bulbs to fashion a firefly. Use medium-weight copper wire and wrap it around the base of the light bulb. Twist wire into wings on either side and add a small piece for the antennae. Hang several fireflies from an embroidery hoop wrapped in copper wire to make a mobile. Use nearly invisible fishing line to make the fireflies appear to fly in mid-air.
