Write a letter to public officials and newspaper editors in your area. Express to them the value of art programs in your school district, and try to convince them to help.
Attend school board meetings and make presentations in support of the arts. If there are no art programs in your school district, making presentations is a good way to introduce the idea.
Volunteer in the art department of your local school.
Give monetary donations and supplies to the local art department. Supplies such as drawing materials, books, magazines, and visual aids are usually appreciated in the average art department.
Attend student art shows and purchase art. Support young artists who can’t afford to take special art classes.
