Embroidery Machine Design Programs

Embroidery is decorative stitching on cloth used in such items as blouses, shirts or tablecloths. Embroidery uses a chain stitch as its most basic design. Chain stitching consists of thread formed into loops or chains. Modern sewing machines incorporate common embroidery patterns in their software. Software programs also exist to allow seamstresses to create their own patterns.
  1. Standalone Software

    • Embroidery software allows the sewing crafters to use their home computer to select preloaded patterns or make their own. They can download patterns from embroidery websites and edit them or create her own. The new designs are transferred to the sewing machine through different means, usually involving a memory chip or universal serial bus (USB) device (such as a thumb drive).

    Applying Patterns

    • The crafter chooses a pattern and positions the cloth under the needle. They press the foot pedal and watch the machine stitch the pattern on its own. Sewing machines use a foot on top of the fabric and two or more serrated pieces of metal underneath the cloth to hold it in place and move it as needed. Some sewing machines have a hoop arrangement in which the cloth is held between to closely fitting hoops attached to the machine.
