How to Give Perspex an Opaque Finish
Perspex is a transparent acrylic sheet of plastic, available in many colors and sizes. It is similar to Plexiglass and can be used for many of the same purposes. Perspex can also be used for making jewelry, furniture and other decorative items. Because Perspex is transparent, there is sometimes a need to block some of the light which passes through the plastic to create privacy or for a more translucent look. This can be achieved through using translucent contact paper or privacy films designed for glass windows.

1
Thoroughly clean the Perspex with window cleaner and a lint-free cloth . Wipe until dry.
-
2
Measure the Perspex and draw the shape in the correct size on the privacy film. Trim the film inside the lines. This should give you a shape approximately 1/16 of an inch smaller than the Perspex on each side. This is necessary to ensure that the film lies flat.

Fill the spray bottle with water and add 3 or 4 drops of clear baby shampoo. Mist this spray onto the Perspex.

Apply the film starting in one corner. Slowly work your way downward, using the card to press the film flat. Continue until the entire film has been applied and there are no visible air bubbles.
