How to Write Your Name Using a Number Line & Boxes

If you have ever used a typical calculator, you may have noticed that each number on the display is made up of small line segments. The best known and simplest type of this display uses a maximum of 7 segments for a single character. For example, the numeral 8 uses all 7 segments, while the numeral 1 uses only 2 segments. Using this system it is easy to represent numerals. However, rendering letters is more complicated. Overall, though, you can represent any letter, and therefore any name, using this system. Writing your name in this electronic style of bars and boxes can give a futuristic and technological look to your name.

Instructions

    • 1

Number the possible segments clockwise, starting with 1 at the top and ending with 6 on the upper left. Number the center segment 7.

    • 2

Write any character by using a combination of segments. To create the number 8, for example, use all 7 segments. To create the number 1, just use segments 2 and 3.

    • 3
      The letter O uses segments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Write each letter in your name with the appropriate combination of segments. For example, create the letter A with segments 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. Create the letter B with segments 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Create the letter C with segments 1, 4, 5 and 6.
