How to Transfer an Image to Watercolor Paper Using Vellum

Some people love to create art but are challenged when it comes to sketching pictures. If you are one of those people, there is an option other than limiting yourself to abstract art. You can make beautiful pieces of art with a simple technique. The technique allows you to use a picture that inspires you to turn a piece of it into a unique and personal piece of art. You can even create collections of images that you love in one collage.

Things You'll Need

  • Photograph or picture
  • Vellum
  • Colored markers
  • Watercolor paper
  • Graphite paper
  • Pencil

Instructions

      Look at the part of the picture you want to recreate. It can be a leaf, a flower, a flag, or anything you like.

      Place the vellum over the picture and trace the shape you're recreating with a dark marker.

      Layer the watercolor paper, the graphite paper and the vellum, in that order.

      Trace the image on the vellum through the graphite paper to the watercolor paper with a pencil. Apply pressure to ensure the image is transferred.

      Trace the image on the watercolor paper with markers.
