Open your photo-editing program. Locate your photos on your computer's hard-drive by selecting "File" and "Open" from the photo editing program's menu bar. Select the photo you want to edit and select "Open" from the pop-up option box.
Resize or crop your photo if you want to make it bigger or smaller or eliminate sections. The crop tool lets you select the area you wish to keep, and everything outside of that area is removed.
Enhance your photo by adjusting its color and brightness. Lighten or darken photos by changing the brightness and contrast. It is also possible to add a hue of color to your photo or to make it black and white, a sepia tone or similar in appearance to a photo negative.
Add text to the photo. You should be able to use any font that you have installed in your computer, and you can dictate what size and color the font is.
Add an effect to your photo to make it look interesting. Many photo-editing programs include a variety of effects that can make the photo look similar to a charcoal drawing, watercolor painting or something more extreme.
