How to Care for Navel Piercings

Navel piercings, also known as belly button piercings, take approximately six weeks to heal completely. During the healing period, proper cleaning of your navel piercing is essential to prevent irritation or infection. While it is a common misconception that piercings should be cleaned with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, these substances can actually inhibit the proper formation of scar tissue inside a puncture wound. Saline soaks are the best way to ensure that your body piercing heals properly.
