Beatitude Crafts

There are eight Beatitudes spoken by Jesus, found in Matthew 5:3-10. The Beatitudes are inspirational for Christians, and are different than the Ten Commandments given to Moses. The Beatitudes lead Christians to thoughts of their destiny in the Kingdom of Heaven, inspiring them to keep the faith and act on God's Word while here on earth. For instance, the first Beatitude, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven," describes a Christian's ideal humility of spirit and future reward. Make Beatitude crafts as gifts or for your own pleasure.
  1. Calendar

    • Make a 16-month calendar using the eight Beatitudes as your inspiration for the pages. Begin January with "Blessed are the poor in spirit," and conclude the verse in February with, "for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Continue this with the other seven verses for the following months. You could let the cover of the calendar include all of the Beatitudes. Upload some personal or inspirational pictures for your calendar, to impact the thought of the month, and be blessed daily.

    Deck of Cards

    • Make a deck of cards with inspirational thoughts from the Beatitudes.

When playing cards, you may have time to pause and think while waiting for an opponent to play, or between rounds. Make a deck of cards that include the Beatitudes on them, for your home or for a friend. Put the Beatitudes on the back side of the card in full (all eight of them), or include them on the number side of the card in their individual verses. You might write, "Blessed are the pure in heart" at the top of the card, and on the bottom, add, "for they shall see God." You could also make a deck of cards using the Beatitude verses for a matching game.

    Greeting Cards

    • Whether you're giving a greeting card for an occasion, to build a person's faith or to simply let her know you are thinking of her, a special card conveys uplifting thoughts. Make some greeting cards using the Beatitudes as your theme. These verses are inspiring and can leave the recipient with a divine message of hope and inspiration.

Paper Weight, Mirror or Picture Frame

    • Mount of the Beatitudes in Israel

Decoupage a paper weight, a picture frame or a mirror with the verses of the Beatitudes. Let the Beatitudes be an inspiration to you as you work at your desk, pass through the hallway or put your makeup on. Contemplate such thoughts as, "Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied," and "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." Thoughts like this can give you or your guests peace from troubles, as you go about your daily routines.
