Facts on Crayola Washable Markers

You don't have to worry about marker stains on your walls or furniture when you use Crayola washable markers. These markers provide parents and teachers with a solution to those messy artists who haven't yet learned that blank walls are not canvases. By learning how Crayola washable markers work, you can decide if they are right for your child.
  1. Non-Hazardous

    • You may be concerned about the toxicity of washable markers. The Art and Creative Materials Institute, Inc. certified that Crayola washable markers do not contain any known hazards to humans. Potential health hazards, including inhalation, ingestion, eye contact and skin contact, weren't noted by the institute in regard to these markers.

    Water-Based

    • Crayola washable markers are water-based, which is why they are washable and do not stain. The pigment used in washable markers include dyes and food colorings that are not permanent. These hues are more watered down than those of permanent markers so that the colors can be easily washed away.

    Types

    • You can find Crayola washable markers in a variety of assortment options from 10 to 50 markers per pack. The tips of the markers are different too. Some washable marker tips are thin and some are thick to accommodate all types of arts and crafts projects.

    Staining Potential

    • Although Crayola washable markers are washable, they can still stain walls, furniture or clothing. Washable markers are meant to be washed promptly after accidental markings. If you leave a marker stain on a wall over a period of a couple of weeks, you may find that a slight stain remains after you wash it.
