How to Make Ribbon Cupcake Clips

An average cupcake lover enjoys a sweet treat now and then, but a real aficionado will wear a cupcake as an accessory. A realistic looking cupcake made of ribbons is relatively easy to make with two types of ribbon and some cardboard. Grosgrain ribbon is flat and will serve as the wrapper for the cupcake. Korker ribbon has natural curls and will make a delicious, fluffy "frosting" for your accessory. Glue an alligator clip to the back of the cupcake to make it easy to attach to your clothing.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of sturdy cardboard into a small, cup shape. Wrap brown grosgrain ribbon around the cup, covering all spaces, and secure with the hot glue gun. Hold the ribbon in place with an alligator clip until the glue dries.

    • 2

Secure the end of the colorful korker ribbon at one edge of the cardboard cup. This ribbon will be the icing on the cupcake. Make a line of glue across the top of the cup and attach the korker ribbon. Be careful not to damage the curls.

    • 3

Once the glue has dried, curl the korker ribbon into a spiral. Cut several short lengths of grosgrain ribbon. Glue these lengths to the back of the cupcake to keep the spiral in place.

    • 4

Cut short lengths of the korker ribbon. Wrap each one around a pencil and glue to make a roll. Glue each roll onto the icing of the cupcake to fill it out.

    • 5

Decorate the cupcake with a pompom cherry and tiny glass bead sprinkles.

    • 6

Glue an alligator clip to the back of the cupcake so that you can use it as an accessory.
