How to Paint Plants & Palm Leaves on My Wall

Art has become a way of life for most human beings in one way or the other. Paintings hang on walls, airbrush designs spice up automobile and motorcycle exteriors, galleries provide a social network, tattoos cover our bodies and elaborate colors decorate many of the homes that we live in. Home decor uses many variations of art to create moods and provide comfort for its occupants. However, creating these in-house designs are not quite as hard as they may seem.

Instructions

    • 1

Empty the room that you wish to paint of all its items. This is to keep from ruining your belongings with wet paint, as it can get messy. Place the large plastic tarp over the floor of the room. This, too is to protect the floor from damages of wet paint. Cover the door frame and linings of your floor with masking tape.

    • 2

Open the gallon of primer and pour it into the paint pan. Paint over the entire wall using the paint roller. For the best results, allow one coat to dry and then apply a second one. Allow to dry. Rinse all remains of the primer out of the paint pan as well as from the roller.

    • 3

Open the gallon of white paint and pour it into the paint pan. Apply one solid coat of white paint to the wall using the paint roller. Allow to dry.

    • 4

Tape the palm tree and plant stencil on the wall uing the masking tape. Using a pencil, draw the outline of the plants and palm leaves on your wall. Reference pictures of plants and palm leaves to help. Do not scratch the pencil so hard on the wall that it ruins the paint. In fact, make them so light that the pencil lines are barely visible. Remove the stencils from the wall.

    • 5

Open the gallon of brown paint and pour some of it into the palette. Line the trunks of the plants with the small, detail paintbrush. Fill in the trunks of your plants with a medium-sponge paintbrush. Allow to dry. Rinse out the palette, the detail brush and the sponge paintbrush after all of the trunks of your plant leaves are filled in.

    • 6

Pour a liberal amount of the green paint into the paint palette. Line the leaves of your plants and palm leaves using the small, detail paintbrush. Fill in the palm leaves and plants with the medium- and large-sponge paintbrushes. Be careful not to paint outside of the lines. Allow to dry. Rinse out the palette and the paintbrushes while you are waiting for the wall to dry.

    • 7

Pour a small amount of your light green paint into the palette. Paint liberal detail on the leaves of your plants and palm leaves using the small detail brush and a bit of water. Continue to do this until desired results are achieved. Repeat the same step with the light brown paint for detailing the trunks, of course after rinsing out the palette, and paintbrushes from the light green. Allow to dry.

    • 8

Remove masking tape from the door frame and the floor linings. Pull the plastic tarp from the floor and roll it up. Place all desired furniture and appliances back into the room. Enjoy your outdoor look indoors!
