How to Draw Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell was a master at illustrations with the ability to create photo quality drawings. His illustrations represented America at her best and had a way of evoking emotions. Learning how to draw Rockwell's portrait will improve an artist illustration techniques. Often, new artist believe they should begin with the eyes or mouth, hindering the process by focusing too soon on the details instead of concentrating on a rough outline. Experienced portrait artists learn to focus on the gestalt, the whole, before working on the details. The gestalt includes proportion, symmetry and shape.
