Visit a new place. Sometimes artists lose inspiration simply because they are always looking to the same surroundings and themes for starting points. Often all that is needed is a fresh perspective for an artist to come back stronger than ever. Go to a new town for an afternoon or an event that you wouldn't have attended before.
Go to an art gallery or museum. For most artists, even work that is not their style can be inspirational in the technique and history behind it. Take a look at everything from the paintings to the sculptures on display. The best new art can come from a classic idea, as the foundations of art remain the same as time goes on.
Create an inspiration board. Artists and designers of all types use this method to develop and maintain inspiration over the course of a project. Collect images that inspire you from the Internet, personal photos, magazines and past projects of your own. Tape them onto a board, wall or sheet of poster board so they remain visible at all times. Look at the board and identify any common themes or elements.
Take a break from working on your art for a couple of days, and work on something else. Inspiration can be hard to come by when the mind is too focused on the task. You may find that in doing other things, you will become more relaxed and inspiration will come to you more freely.
