Most preschool art projects are made on, or out of, paper products. Although construction paper and craft paper are most frequently used, paper plates, paper cups, newspaper, shoe boxes, paper grocery bags, paper towel tubes and cardboard boxes can also be utilized.
Preschool art projects usually require that the child draw, color or paint. Supplies required for these tasks include finger paints, watercolor paints, crayons, markers, chalk, ink stamp pads and colored pencils. Buy color-safe markers and paints to avoid permanent stains on clothes.
Unless your child is only making a simple drawing, their art project will require an adhesive. School glue, glue sticks and paste are the most common glues used for preschool art projects. However, some art projects can be assembled using tape, staples or string as well.
Collages are also a fun preschool art project for young children. These crafts require small items such as stickers, dried beans, pasta, rice, buttons, flowers, pieces of felt or ribbon to be glued to paper.
