How to Attach an Ink Cartridge to a Nib Pen

Most professional drawing pens feature both a replaceable ink cartridge and nib. Ink cartridges can run dry after extensive use or prolonged periods of disuse, and nibs can likewise wear down with extensive use. Nibs can also split and break if too much pressure is applied by the user. Learning how to properly replace ink cartridges and nibs can ensure a long lifespan for your pen.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the protective cap from the ink cartridge. Insert the ink cartridge into the body of the pen. Place the cap over the open end of the pen body to secure the cartridge.

    • 2

Inspect the nib wick to ensure it is pointed straight and is not frayed or split. Carefully guide the nib wick into the center of the ink cartridge until some resistance is met.

    • 3

Push the nib straight in until it is seated firmly inside the pen body. Turn the pen upside down and replace the nib cap. Wait for the ink to flow into the new nib before using the pen.
