Draw with water-soluble pens on paper. To protect your working surface, put several layers of paper beneath the one you are using to draw. Do some solid filled-in sections, and some single-line doodles for a variety to work with. Use several colors that you would like to practice blending together.
Holding your Dove Blender Pen upside down and with the cap on, squeeze and pull out the cap on the bottom end of the pen. Open the bottle of refill liquid and pour a few drops in. Replace all caps and lids and let the pen sit for a few seconds before using.
Remove the pen's cap and begin drawing over the pen work from step one. Because the Blender Pen is transparent, you won't see what it's drawing. Every time you go over another water-soluble ink, the pen will wet the ink and allow it to blend and smudge. Experiment with a variety of uses, including putting the blender mixture on a clear area, then putting pen over it. Try blending together several colors.
Grip the nib of your Dove Blender Pen between your thumb and forefinger and pull it straight out to replace a dirty or frayed nib. Put in a replacement nib and push down gently until it won't go in any further.
Store your Dove Blender Pen with the cap on and away from heat.
