Cut two equal-sized sheets of clear laminate off the roll. The size does not matter, since smaller shapes will be cut out of this piece. Peel the back off one sheet and place it face up on the table.
Draw small swimming pool tube shapes on the yellow and red construction paper. Cut around the tube drawings and cut out inside. Fold the tube cut out in half and cut out a half-circle along the fold to cut the inside out without ruining the tube. Draw some small umbrellas as well. Use shapes of summer items from Fotosearch.com as inspiration. (See Resources)
Sprinkle some of the glitter evenly over the laminate. Squeeze or pour out a small amount of blue paint onto the center of the laminate. Drop the construction paper shapes onto the glitter and laminate. Spread them out evenly. Unpeel the back of the second sheet of laminate. Place the laminate, sticky side down onto the glitter, paint and sheet of laminate. Press the top laminate down from the middle, where the paint is, sealing the laminate, and squishing the blue paint out, and over the rest of the laminate. Continue until all of the laminate is sealed. Let the paint dry.
Fold white card stock in half for the invitations. Cut out a pool shape on the front of the invitation. The pool shape can be rectangular or randomly shaped.
Place the invitation frame on top of the dried and painted laminate. Cut out a shape to match the hole you made in the paper, adding a half inch the perimeter. Open the invitation and run a line of glue around the frame opening. Place the faux pool shape you made onto the opening.
Type up directions to the home, or any other special instructions for birthday party guests. Cut that piece of paper to cover the pool shape from the inside of the cover. This will also help keep the pool in place. Inform guests of the birthday party details on the right part of the card, on the inside.
