Who could act in the globe theatre?

In the Globe Theatre, only male actors were allowed to perform. During that time, it was not socially acceptable for women to perform on stage, so all female roles were played by young boys or men. This practice was common in Elizabethan theatre and continued until the Restoration period in the late 17th century.
