How to Make a Burning Bush Costume

A burning bush is a phenomena in which a bush is on fire, but the combustion does not reduced the bush to ash. In the book of Exodus, Moses is said to have encountered a burning bush in the desert. While there are scientific explanations as to why a bush may appear to burn, for example the phenomenon of phosphorescence and St. Elmo's fire, a burning bush costume traditionally features flames rather than phosphorus or electricity.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase or select a shirt and a pair of pants from your wardrobe to construct your costume over. These two garments will probably have to be disposed of after use as part of the costume. Choose clothes which cover as much skin as possible for the best effect. If your clothes are not brown already, dye them brown with fabric dye.

    • 2

Cut the red, orange, yellow and glitter streamers into strips of different lengths. Attach them to the brown shirt and pants with a glue gun. Cover almost every part of the pants and shirt randomly to give the appearance of fire.

    • 3

Attach coat hangers to the hat with tape and lightly cover them with spray foam. Shape them into "branches." When the foam has dried, coat the branches with brown spray paint. Add a few streamers to the hat with the glue gun.

    • 4

You are now ready to don your burning bush costume.
