How to Do Fake Facial Hair With Makeup

Facial hair work is similar to contouring with makeup. With the right placement and the right shading, anyone can have a five o'clock shadow or a goatee. The makeup doesn't have to be expensive; use good brushes and applicators and even the most inexpensive makeup will look professional in quality.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply cream eyeliner pencil to the areas of the face where you want the appearance of facial hair. Use sketch-like strokes; don't fill it in entirely. For a goatee, sketch a circle around the mouth and down the chin in uneven lines. Use the facial structure as a guide. Facial hair typically grows the most strongly around the bone structure of a face. Let it guide you to realistic placement of facial hair.

Apply sideburns with the eyeliner from the hairline adjacent to the ear, down over the cheekbone. Use the same sketch-like strokes as before.

    • 3

Apply dark brown matte eye shadow to a round blush brush. Tap the handle of the brush on the side of the makeup container to shake off as much excess powder as possible. Lightly go over the fine facial hair lines you applied with the eyeliner. Use broad, back-and-forth strokes.

Apply dark brown matte eye shadow to a large round powder brush. Use broad strokes to fill in the jawline and cheeks with a five o'clock shadow. This will soften the lines of the eyeliner and make it appear less out of place on the face. Give continuity to your facial hair design by going over all of it with the same brush lightly with the same color of eye shadow.
