Who is Theseus in a midsummer nights dream?

In "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Theseus is the Duke of Athens, who is preparing for his upcoming marriage to Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons. He is a just and honorable ruler who often serves as the mediator and voice of reason in the play. Along with his bride-to-be, Theseus presides over the festivities and events of the wedding, including the resolution of the conflicts and love triangles that arise.

Theseus is a central character in the play, but his role is not as intertwined with the magical events as the other characters. He represents the rational and societal aspects of the play, providing a contrast to the whimsical and chaotic elements caused by the fairies and love potions.
