How to Apply Costume Cream Makeup

Cream makeup is a common accessory for Halloween costumes as well as stage performances. Cream makeup is easy to apply and generally resistant to sweat and other moisture, making it a strong choice for performances in which hot lights burn down on actors. Cream makeup is easy to remove at the end of the night, only requiring a quick rinse with a gentle face wash.

Instructions

    • 1

Perform a skin test before beginning the makeup application. Rub a bit of makeup on the arm of the subject at least one day before the actual event. This allows time for allergic reactions or other problems, and lets you know whether you will need to switch makeup types.

    • 2

Have the subject put his costume on before you begin to prevent smudges and smears. He should also wash his face and rinse with cold water so that his skin is ready for the application.

    • 3

Press the makeup sponge into the cream makeup and spread it around your subject's face. Try to cover the entire area as evenly as possible.

    • 4

Touch up any areas that have less coverage than others by applying more makeup with the sponge.

    • 5

Pat the face with the makeup sponge to erase lines and create a smooth, even tone.
