How to Hide a Microphone While Acting

As technology has evolved, so has the public's expectation for a harmony between natural-sounding dialogue and environmental noise. Lapel microphones are small enough to avoid notice, and with their omnidirectional abilities and pickup, they transmit a dependable sound. With careful application, hidden lapel microphones are veiled equipment with a sufficient audio quality.

Instructions

    • 1

Weave the lapel microphone, or mic, through the hair up from the back of the head.

    • 2

Hide the microphone near the hairline. Situating the mic on the forehead will give you the best and most natural sound. If this isn't a good location because of a person's hairline or costume, place it by the ear.

    • 3

Face the receiving end towards your mouth.

    • 4

Secure the receiving end of the mic with clear medical tape or clear glue.

    • 5

Fasten the woven wire to the hair with toupee clips or bobby pins.
