How to Stay Calm on Stage

The secret to remaining calm on stage involves zapping your stage fright or public speaking anxieties, while executing powerful relaxation techniques, releasing tension and settling your nerves. Nurturing your core, facing your fears and taking one breath and small step at a time will help you to overcome any obstacle set forth.

Instructions

    • 1

Rehearse non-stop and make sure to memorize the sticky spots of your performance or presentation.

    • 2

Do not worry about the opinions of others. Everyone has this burden on their mind, but you need to develop a detached attitude to hurtful criticism. Over time, you will find yourself less overly-conscious about your image and stage presence.

    • 3

Accept your fears and do not fight them. Struggling with your fear will only cause anxiety and increase your worries and nervousness.

    • 4

Meditate before you go on stage. This age-old relaxation technique brings clarity and inner peace to the mind. Feeling calm right before your performance will help to control any anxieties while on stage.

    • 5

Wear a yoga eye pillow for five minutes before you go on stage. Studies say that relaxing your eyes invites the mind and body to relax as well.

    • 6

Find or think about a familiar person in the crowd. Visualize a family member, lover or friend. This can raise your comfort level with the venue while improving self-confidence.

    • 7

Move around on stage, if you can. Your adrenaline is pumping levels of stage fright into your veins. Combat the feeling with something physical. Doing so will create a positive burst of energy.
