A Hannya (般若) mask is a mask used in Noh theatre. It represents a woman who has become a demon because of obsession and jealousy, and is driven to madness. The demon has two sharp horns, large eyes, and a gaping mouth. They were often used in horror stories, and also to depict women possessed by demons.
