Who is hortensio in the play The Taming of Shrew?

Hortensio is a character in William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. He is a wealthy young man from Padua who is in love with Bianca Minola, the younger daughter of Baptista Minola. However, Bianca's father will not allow her to marry until her older sister, Katherina, is married. Therefore, Hortensio and his friend Petruchio devise a plan to marry Katherina so that Hortensio can marry Bianca.
