In the late 1960s, the Dave Rooney Trio disbanded and the members went on to pursue other projects. Dave Rooney continued to perform and record as a solo artist and also worked as a music educator and composer. Bob Peterson became a successful bassist and session musician, playing with many well-known artists, including Quincy Jones, George Benson, and Herbie Hancock. Butch Miles became a sought-after drummer and played with various jazz groups, including the Woody Herman Orchestra and the Stan Kenton Orchestra.
Despite their eventual disbandment, the Dave Rooney Trio remains an important part of the history of jazz in the Minneapolis area. Their music and contributions to the local scene continue to be celebrated and remembered by fans and musicians alike.
