Can a single ukulele be played left handed and right handed?

No.

Although ukuleles can be strung in a lefty configuration, the instrument itself is not designed to be played left-handed.

The main reason for this is that the strings on a ukulele are typically strung from left to right, with the thicker strings on the right and the thinner strings on the left. This makes it easier for right-handed players to play the instrument, as they can pluck the strings with their right hand and press them down with their left hand. If a ukulele is strung in a lefty configuration, the strings will be reversed, making it more difficult for right-handed players to play.
