Why did some people dislike Elizabethan theatres?

* They were seen as a distraction from more serious pursuits. Many people in Elizabethan England believed that the theatre was a waste of time and money. They felt that it was more important to focus on work, study, and religion.

* They were associated with crime and vice. The theatres were often located in seedy areas of town, and they were known for attracting criminals and prostitutes. This made some people擔心 that attending the theatre could lead to moral corruption.

* They were seen as a threat to social order. Some people believed that the theatre could be used to spread subversive ideas and encourage people to rebel against the monarchy. This was especially true of plays that dealt with political or religious topics.

* They were too noisy and disruptive. The theatres were often very crowded and noisy, and this could be annoying to people who lived nearby. Some people also complained that the performances were too long and that they disturbed the peace.
