Is theatre primary purpose to educate the public?

While theatre can certainly have an educational component, its primary purpose is not to educate the public. Theatre is an art form that serves to entertain, explore human emotions and experiences, provide social commentary, and create a shared experience for the audience. Education may be a secondary or indirect outcome of theatre, but it is not the main goal.
