Create or choose the design you want to print. Simple designs such as silhouettes are effective when screen printed. Draw or print this design onto an A4 size piece of acetate.
Cut out the parts of the design that you want to print. This is your stencil. Place thick cardboard under your work area to protect your surfaces.
Lay newspaper over your work surface. Place the copper on top of the newspaper. Place the stencil on top of the copper in the desired print location.
Lower the silk screen down on top of the stencil. Cover any areas on the underside of the screen that are not covered by the stencil with masking tape.
Squirt a small amount of ink across the top of the screen. Hold the screen in place with your left hand. Use your right hand to pull the ink down the screen with the squeegee. Hold the squeegee at a 45-degree angle for the best print.
Lift the screen off the copper from left to right. The stencil will come away with the screen to show the print. Leave the print to dry. Rinse the screen, stencil and squeegee in water. Leave them to dry.
