London Theatre Guide

The London theater scene is as established and respected as Broadway's, if not more so, and is far older and has been running far longer. When visiting London, catching a theater performance is a must. Yet there are many different websites that can help direct you to the right plays or musicals, get you deals on tickets and provide you with the local critic's reviews and opinions. Some of these sites are better then others and your theater experience in London might depend on which online theater guide you trust.
  1. London Theater Guide

    • Created in 1995, the London Theater Guide was put together to provide a reliable source of information for London theater on the Internet. These mostly pertain to West End theater listings, though just about any recognized stage show that is selling tickets can be found on this site, fringe or otherwise. The guide also provides information on theater festivals like the Globe, National Theater and Royal Shakespeare Company in London, sells tickets to most shows and updates which notable actors are in shows running in London.

    Theater Guide London

    • Theater Guide London offers authoritative, independent London theater reviews from critics who have more then 50 years of theater experience. The website appears a little clunky and not very well put together, but the information is reliable--sort of like the Ain'titcoolnews.com (a well-respected fan boy film website in the United States) for theater in London. The Top Five lists Theater Guide London provides are the most helpful: Top Five Classic Theater Shows and Top Five Current Shows, helping an outsider to the theater scene decide on a show worthy of buying tickets to.

    VisitLondon.com

    • Visit London's theater guide offers everything from reviews to special offers on tickets. There also are interviews and news items on local theater actors, and visiting celebrity actors, inside and outside the scene. With each performance listed on the site comes recommendations for restaurants or tourist attractions in the area, allowing you to make a night of your theater experience. A mainstream, high-end site, Visit London is sleek and easy to navigate but is geared almost entirely toward the tourism industry in London, not necessarily the theater scene.
