Discuss decorating ideas for the show. A church talent show may be either religious or secular in nature and this may affect the overall decorating scheme. Make a list of items needed to put on the show. Some of the items will be necessary as well as decorative while others will be simply decorative and enhance the atmosphere for the show.
Set up temporary stage lighting if the church stage is not well-lit. Temporary stage lights can usually be rented from local music stores. A sound system may also be necessary if you want to showcase singers and bands as a part of the talent show. If the show includes theatrical or comedy skits, various stage props may be necessary as well.
Schedule a time and date for decorating the stage. Select a time that doesn't interfere with other church activities. Try to set up the decorations a day or two before the talent show. This avoids the stress and hassle of waiting to the last minute and it also makes it possible to hold one or two rehearsals that will let you see how the decorations look with the performers on stage.
Put together a group of volunteers to help with the decorations. Assign different tasks to individuals in the groups. For example, if some of the members are artistically gifted, ask them to make the stage props, such as painted backgrounds for the skits. Ask the more electronically inclined members of the group to set up the stage lights and sound system. Ask people who have trucks or larger vehicles to help out picking up larger items and supplies for the show.
