Why was the Globe Theater demolished in 1644?

The original Globe Theater was not demolished in 1644. It was dismantled in 1598 by playwright and co-owner of the theatre, Richard Burbage, and then later rebuilt in 1614. The Globe Theater was however destroyed in a fire in 1613, which started during a production of Henry VIII.
