What is Opera Pochissimo?

Opera Pochissimo is a subgenre of opera that consists of very short operas, or operatic scenes. These works are typically no longer than 10 minutes in length, and they are often written for a small cast of singers and instrumentalists. Opera Pochissimo is a relatively new genre, and it has become popular in recent years as a way to introduce opera to new audiences and to make it more accessible. Some notable examples of Opera Pochissimo include John Cage's *The Wedding* (1949), Luciano Berio's *Sequenza III* (1965), and Philip Glass's *Einstein on the Beach* (1976).
