What did a riveter do on the Titanic?

Riveters were responsible for riveting the metal plates of the Titanic's hull together. They would heat the rivets in a forge until they were red-hot and then hammer them into place, securing them with metal washers called roves. The rivets were essential for keeping the ship's hull watertight, and the riveters worked long hours to ensure that the Titanic was properly constructed.
